Pakenham juniors show fight

PAKENHAM junior under16 (1) team produced a strong team effort against Endeavour Hills in round 12 at the weekend, losing by 48 points.
With finals chances gone there was no pressure and the team played great football and fought the game out.
With a bench full of injuries and a great third term, Endeavour Hills succumbed to Pakenham’s constant pressure. With five goals needed in the last quarter and kicking with the wind, Pakenham put in a solid last quarter.

The Lions played a Friday night match under lights at the Arch Brown Reserve.
Berwick took advantage of the wind in the first quarter to gain a strong lead.
Pakenham played a defensive game in the second half and lifted its game and attack, but was outscored by a better side.

Playing against top side Officer, the Lions put in a sterling game.
They ran in numbers, chased, harassed, tackled and generally played a great game of football, but unfortunately faded in the last quarter, letting Officer kick easy goals.

Excellent teamwork with strong shepherding and great running was a feature of the game played in very windy conditions under lights on Friday night.

In galeforce conditions, Narre Warren got a quick start, but Pakenham fought hard for the whole game and had a very good second half, keeping Narre down to only one goal, four behinds in the second.

At half time the players were asked to keep up the good work and they responded with excellent team work, great handballing and tackling.
