Rev up for rally

PAKENHAM Auto Club members were prominent in the recent Rally of Melbourne event on 3 and 4 September.
Held at Healesville, with a special stage at De Bortoli Vineyard, the event was a round of the Victorian Rally Championship (VRC) as well as the Australian Rally Championship (ARC).
Final results are not yet available, however in the ARC Simon and Sue Evans, in a Toyota Corolla, were first in heat one and second in heat two. This gave them a second outright place. Scott Pedder in a Mitsubishi Lancer was third in heat two, but unfortunately did not finish heat one.
The Subaru RS Challenge is also a part of this event, with only the final round in Bathurst to be run.
Two PAC members are neck and neck and cannot be beaten by any other contenders.
Will Orders and Toni Feaver took out 14th and 15th places in the two heats of the Rally of Melbourne, putting them just four points behind Eli Evans and Matt McAdam who were placed 24th and 13th.
The Australian Rally Championship, with only one round to go, has Scott Pedder in second place and Simon and Sue Evans in equal third place.
The Victorian Rally Championship saw four PAC crews doing well.
Best performance was Travis McInnes who was placed 16th and 13th.
Craig Morris and his daughter Carrie were fourth in heat two, brotherandsister crew of Steve and Lauren Kenway eighth heat two, brotherandsister crew of Jesse and Sam Robison 11th heat two, Hayden Taylor and Matt de Vaus were 13th in heat one, but did not qualify as finishing heat two.
This was due to a broken diff that put and end to the day for them when running in tenth place.
Several PAC members received invitations to be part of the special entertainment for the spectators at the De Bortoli stage, while competitors were away completing other rally stages.
Adam Bloomfield, in his Commodore thrilled the crowd with a spectacular jump.
As usual Pakenham Auto Club provided officials for the event.
The next rally for PAC members is the Mirboo Meander on 17th September starting in Morwell and running in the Strzelecki Ranges.
