Rolfe rules at Drouin

IT was a day to remember for Graham Rolfe at Drouin Golf Club on Saturday, shooting an excellent 63 nett to win the monthly medal.
Graham also won C grade as well as losing three shots off his 24 handicap.
The medal was contested by 141 players in fine conditions.
Next best in C grade was J. P. Santo with 68, Russell Seadon 68, Brad Fraser 69 and John Fusinato 69.
In B grade, Ron Harris (18) was two clear of the rest of the field with 67.
Runner-up was Iian Mitchell, 69 on a countback from Paul Lunt, Garry Websdale 70, Glenn Fenton 70 and Jack Gough 70.
A-grade winner was Stuart Broad (12) with a fine 68. Runner up was Mick Lithgow 69 followed by Leon Cooke 70, Danny Gorman 70, Peter Medwin 70, Darryl Brain 70 and Fred Barton 70.
Nearest to pins – second: Henk VanDeuren, 5th: Jack Gardiner, 19th: Cleo Sahhar, 23rd (pro pin): Doug Scott.
Balls went down to 70 and the scratch winner for the day was Leon Cook with 74. The CCR was 70.

MIDWEEK RESULTS

There were 99 in the Stableford competition and Ivan Moffatt (14) had a handy 40 points to win A grade from Roger East 39, Tony Elliot 39, Wayne Devlin 39, Leigh Greening 38 and Rex Amey 38.
Shane Golding (19) took out B grade with 41 points from runner-up Bob Jewell 40, Bruce Osborne 39, Gordon Warren 39, Bill Pyle 38, Arnold Mills 38 and Louie Uliando 37.
Brian Kemp (21) won C grade with 40 points from runner-up J. P. Santo 39. Con Norris had 38 and Peter Browne 37.
Nearest to pins – second: Nathan Doyle, 5th: Brian Curtis, 19th: Wayne Duckett, 23rd (pro pin): Mick Hamilton. The CCR was 70 and balls went down to 37 on a countback.

OPEN MIXED CANADIAN

On Sunday the club hosted an Open Mixed Canadian and 26 pairs teed off.
The scratch winners were Leonie and Matthew (Cahill) Long 74.
A-grade handicap winners were Maureen and Ken Withers with nett 70 1/2.
A-grade runners-up were Libby and Nick Dehey 73 1/4.
B-grade winners were Tracey and Wayne English 71 1/4. Runners up were Kerryne and Roger Fraser 74.
Other good scores were Marg Purcell and Glen Flowers 73 3/4 and Mary Clark and Gordon Warren 74 5/8.

THURSDAY RESULTS

Graeme Brenchley and Rolfe Loebert shared first place in the seniors’ nine-hole event with 21 points each. Con Norris was next on 19.
Audrey Smethurst took out the ladies’ section with 19 points from Robyn O’Brien 18.

PRO-AM

This Tuesday is the club’s biggest day of the year, the Drouin and District Community Bank Pro-Am. Some places in the field still remain, so contact Anthony to secure a spot.
