Smooth run for senior teams

LAST weekend Pakenham’s B grade men’s side put in a strong batting performance to defeat Narre Warren Emus and the women’s side easily defeated Cheyanne.

B GRADE MEN

Pakenham enjoyed a solid pitching game from Aaron Amalfi, Greg McCormack doing a great job first time as catcher. The highlights of the match included a great catch by Lachlan Bailey at first base and all on the field backed up each other.
The batting started slowly but, once the batters got their eyes in, there were great hits by Steve Walker, Lachlan Bailey and Dane Mason, who again scored a home run.
Scores: Pakenham 9 d Narre Warren Emus 4.

B GRADE WOMEN 1

Niki McIntyre dominated with a magical pitching game and was backed up with sound, tight fielding. All players stepped to the batter’s box with confidence and varied their hitting to the Cheyanne outfield to make the fielders work for the ball. This led to a big win to Pakenham.
Scores: Pakenham 16 d Cheyanne 2.

SOCIAL WOMEN

The women showed great team batting in the second innings. Debbie Douglas fielded brilliantly with two outs and Gemma Ritchie made some great stops at left field. Rosie Johnson had two out at third base.
Scores: Pakenham 8 lost to Cobras 17.

UNDER 16 GIRLS

The first batting innings was excellent, Cassie Bridgett making a two-base hit. There was good fielding by Chloe Moss, including a running catch, while Sarah Pridham and Meaghan Cook did a good job at the pitching plate.
Scores: Pakenham 10 drew with Doveton 10.

UNDER 13 GIRLS

Karly Perkins and Maddison Williams pitched well to Brooke Mason, who had a solid game as catcher against Doveton. There were some great outs at first base, Lauren Harris doing a good job. Jaimee-Leigh Carey and Tonya Thornton worked well at the batting plate, as did Cassidy Williams. Improvement has been evident in all the players, who have been working hard.
Scores: Pakenham 2 lost to Narre Warren Lorikeets 9.

UNDER 13 BOYS

There was an exciting game against Doveton, Mark Broomfield pitching well and taking a great catch. The infield base players all worked hard with Mark Yanz at first base and Branden Allen taking great catches. All players worked hard with their batting, with Mark Broomfield having a great hit off the tee.
Scores: Pakenham 6 lost to Doveton 13.

CLUB NOTES

There will be no softball games this Saturday and the club will sell fundraising tickets at Pakenham Safeway from 10am onwards. The Christmas break-up party will be held on Sunday, 11 December at Lysterfield Lake.
