Softball success for Pakenham

PAKENHAM Softball Club’s B-grade men’s team had its first victory for the season with a four-run win over Berwick Arapaho at the weekend.
A highlight was Dane Mason’s big hit over centre outfield resulting in a home run and also brought his father Ron Mason home.
Scores: Pakenham 10 d Berwick Arapaho 6.

B GRADE WOMEN (1)

Although outclassed, the team played very well. Pitcher Nicole McIntyre was welcomed back and will improve with more games.
Scores: Pakenham 2 d Berwick Kinsemars A Grade 22.
Best: Nicole McIntyre, Leanne Perri and Geraldine Gordon.

SOCIAL WOMEN

A good effort put in by everyone. Playing with one player short and not a good day for pitching saw the team struggle.
Scores: Pakenham 4 lost to Doveton 23.

UNDER 16 GIRLS

New players came up against a team that has played together for a long time and they tried their hardest and put in a great effort.
New player Sarah Pridham was welcomed. Annie Cook and Brodie Robertson fielded well in the second half of the game against a big-hitting team.
Scores: Pakenham 3 lost to Narre Warren Cockatoos 27.

UNDER 16 BOYS

The team was rewarded for the hard work they have been doing with a magnificent game against the Mohawks.
The boys are starting to play as a team and combining very well in the field, with the bat and their base running is improving each week. Hayden Plant took a magnificent catch in the outfield.
Best: Nathan Allen, Luke Rogers and Hayden Plant.
Scores: Pakenham 15 d Mohawks 10.

CLUB NOTES

The Pakenham Softball Club extended its sympathy to the family and friends of B-grade men’s team member Daniel Amalfi who died suddenly recently. Daniel’s brother Aaron is also a member of the club’s men’s team.
No softball games for any grades will be played on 19 November due to the scheduling of the open championships.
