A SUPERB 114 by Lang Lang A-grade captain Ian Creasey helped his team to a solid 243 against Upper Beaconsfield on Saturday.
His superb knock included 60 boundaries.
The D-grade team is chasing in excess of 300 and the under 16s had a good win and the under 14s a good match against Cardinia.

A GRADE

Lang Lang was asked to bat against Upper Beaconsfield that is in fourth position on the ladder just behind Lang Lang.
The first Lang Lang wicket fell in the seventh over when Scott Hogan was bowled for seven with the score on 19 and nine runs later fellow opener Sean Hassett was bowled for 15 after looking comfortable at the crease.
Youngster Kurt Nestor lost his wicket for only two runs, 11 runs later and with the score on 53 Mark Hutchison got a rising delivery and was caught behind for 16.
This put Lang Lang at 4/53 and in a precarious position with a big partnership needed if the Swamp Tigers were to post a good score.
At the tea break, Lang Lang was 4/81 with both Sean Lambie and Ian Creasey looking settled against the Upper Beaconsfield attack.
After the break both Lang Lang batsmen started to attack, putting some respectability to the team total and with the score on 156.
Lambie was adjudged lbw after making 44 and in the process put on a 103-run partnership for the fifth wicket with his captain, who was not out on 59.
Lang Lang lost a further three quick wickets for only 17 runs to be 8/173, with exciting young talent Chris McCurdy joining Creasey at the wicket.
The two batted well together, with McCurdy determined to succeed in his first A-grade game for Lang Lang and was still at the crease when his captain hit a superb on-drive to bring up his second century for the season.
Creasey was out for 114 in the second last over of the day with McCurdy put on 69 runs for the ninth wicket.
The Lang Lang innings ended with Chris McCurdy making 19 not out.

SECOND XI

Playing Beaconsfield, Lang Lang bowlers and fieldsmen toiled hard all day and will have to make 317 next Saturday to win.
Tony Riley was once again the main wicket taking with three and Sam Jenkins took two and newcomer Matt Holloway taking his first with the club.

UNDER 16

Lang Lang was chasing 110 for victory against Clyde and won easily making 5/182 with Sam Jenkins and Rick Caddell making 47 and 46 respectively with Sam Cole making a quick fire 29 not out.
This was a good win, as it gets Lang Lang closer to a top four position on the ladder.

UNDER 14

Lang Lang managed to get seven wickets against Cardinia with Jake Caddell taking two wickets, with a wicket each to Matt Harris, Jay Breen, Troy McPherson, Steven Waldron and Glenn Easton who all bowled well.
