SATURDAY was an excellent round 16 for Berwick Bowls Club in RVBA pennant with five wins and a draw.
Three sides remain on top spot on the ladder with two teams well positioned.
The fifth side, led by J. West, had a good win and moved from fourth to second and picked up a coveted ‘eight-shot end’ and was also the side of the day with 44 shots up, capping off a great day.
Rink of the day was Berwick (6) skipped by Tony McDonald with 25 shots up.

LADIES
The 16th round of pennant matches was played on Tuesday, 31 January.
Berwick (1) continued its success and is well placed for the finals in March, unfortunately the results of the other teams is disappointing.
Berwick (1) (A1 section seven) played away and defeated Cheltenham (1) by 22 shots. The final score was 100-78.
Berwick (2) (A1 section eight) was seven shots down in a home match against Chelsea (1). The final score was 83-90.
Berwick (3) (A2 section eight) in an away match was defeated by Narre Warren (1) with 50 shots down. The final score was 71-121.
Berwick (4) (B1 section eight) lost to Patterson River CC (1) with 51 shots down in a home match. The final score was 66-117.
STATE PAIRS
Berwick’s representatives in the State two bowl pairs semi-final, Pat Thompson and Kath Macqueen were defeated by the Burden Park pair in a match played at Cranbourne.
GENERAL MEETING
A well attended ladies general meeting was held on Thursday 2 February.
Following the meeting a lecture on CPR was appreciated by all present and many were able to demonstrate their skills in a practice session.
There was also an excellent talk from a CFA member that alerted members to the dangers of fire, particularly in the home.
SCHOOL PROGRAM
In a well-organised school program, initiated by Les Herring and dedicated members, 60 girls from St Margaret’s school had chance to learn the rudiments of the game on Friday, 3 February.
ANNIVERSARY
The club congratulated Verna and Brian Gates on their 50th wedding anniversary.
