Brooker bowlers on top

GEMBROOK’S senior sides were in the field with profit on Saturday, dismissing their opposition cheaply.

C GRADE

The Brookers played Officer at Officer and stand-in skipper Craig Heppell won the toss and sent the Bullants in.
In what was easily their best bowling performance for the year the Brookers got a tight start but had to work hard for the first wicket, when Rick Atkinson broke through in the 10th over with the score on 11.
Grant Whytcross got the next wicket bowled before John Shipp came into the action, breaking though in his second over after a superb catch in the covers by Tim Gray. Aidan Weichard came on at the other end to grab a vital wicket in the last over before tea to have the Bullants in trouble at 4/48 after 37 overs.
Shipp quickly grabbed two wickets followed by Weichard’s second after a good catch at point.
Shipp soon got his fourth victim after a well set up plan for a catch at long off left Officer in deep trouble at 9/79 with 11 overs remaining.
Officer’s last pair then put on a gutsy and a much-needed partnership of 23 before Shipp got his deserved fifth wicket in the last over of the day with the score at 102.

E GRADE

Gembrook played at home, won the toss and put Kooweerup in. The bowlers opened well and had Kooweerup 1/1, but Kooweerup rallied to reach 37 before the fall of the second wicket.
The third wicket fell at 48 but the fourth did not fall until the score was 85. Wickets then fell steadily until Kooweerup was all out 119 in the 50th over.
Gembrook then faced 17 overs to be 1/31 at stumps, Anthony Anderson finishing not out 21.
