Disabilities hit for six

By Cassie Maher

PEOPLE with disabilities will have the chance to become part of the Officer Cricket Club No Boundaries Cricket Team on Friday, when the Bullants host their ‘Come and Try Day’.
The day is aimed at encouraging new members to sign up to a second Officer team, which will participate in fortnightly cricket matches.
The team has been developed to include disabled people in the sporting community and to give players an outlet to make new friends and have fun.
People from Pakenham through to Warragul with varying types of disabilities are encouraged to attend the event and see how they enjoy the sport.
From there, participants can sign up to the Officer Bullants and play in fortnightly games against teams in the Gippsland area.
Club training manager Graham Tomkins says the day is a great chance for current players to get some preseason coaching and for future members to see what the game is all about.
As well as the fortnightly games, members will attend weekly training sessions and other activities.
The session will be held from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at the Pakenham Indoor Sports Complex, 930 Princes Highway, Pakenham.
A registration night will follow for those interested in joining on Wednesday, 24 August from 6pm at the Officer Cricket Club Room, corner Starling Road and Princes Highway, Officer.
The season starts in midOctober and subscriptions will cost $35 per player.
