Dream exhibition for netballers

DREAMS came true for Latrobe Valley netballers with a disability last week when the team played a curtainraiser before the Melbourne Phoenix and Sydney Swifts NNL game.
The team put on a 15minute display of skills including ball handling, footwork through the fast feet ladders and shooting before playing two 10minute halves against the Broadmeadows Redbacks. The outcome was a 33 draw and Miranda Sillcock became a hero with the crowd, shooting all three LaTrobe Valley goals.
Another highlight for the team was meeting another local girl, Jess Thomas of Melbourne Phoenix. Phoenix and Swifts were placed first and second on the NNL ladder.
The LaTrobe Valley team started training in April with only three players, but now has 12 players and the week before competing in the recent state titles.
The team welcomes new players and is hoping to play in Drouin in the twilight competition.
