CARDINIA Shire’s Central Ward could become a women’s world.
Of the 10 candidates in the threemember seat, five are female.
Candidates for Central Ward include Cr Kate Lempriere, Tracey Radford, Cr Leonora Cox, Cheryl BillingSmith and Cathy Harbison.
In other wards, Cr Helen Ward is standing again in Bunyip and Noel Ridgway and Carla Gates are standing in Ranges Ward.
Only Port Ward (Cr Doug Hamilton and Philip Murphy) is allmale.
It is feasible that Cardinia Shire’s council could comprise six women and just the one fellow after the elections.
So much for the old notion of councils being a ‘boys’ club’.
