Guest artist is top of the hill

By Jim Mynard
AWARDwinning landscape artist Ern Trembath is the guest artist for the Kevin Hill Top Ten Australian Artists exhibition to be held in the Casey Civic Centre from Saturday 9 to Sunday, 10 September.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said the selection was a fantastic opportunity for Mr Trembath to showcase his outstanding works.
“His paintings will hang alongside some of Australia’s most renowned artists including Max Mannix, Paul Margocsy, Bill Ambagtsheer and the late Pro Hart during this prestigious exhibition,” he said.
“Expressions of interest were called for visual artists who are Casey residents to exhibit their work as guest Casey artist at the art show.
“Casey Arts and Cultural Reference Group provided a panel of members to select the guest artist.”
Cr Bradford said the council was extremely excited about the return of the Kevin Hill art show to Casey, which would give residents and arts lovers from all over Victoria an amazing arts experience.
“It is even more pleasing that Casey has its own renowned local artists, such as Ern Trembath, who can take advantage of exciting arts opportunities in our city.
“Mr Trembath is a traditional representational artist noted for his soft atmospheric landscapes.
“His sensitive lightfilled Australian landscapes are popular for their portrayal of the real Aussie bush.
“His work is often likened to Hans Heysen and the Heidelberg School, with an emphasis on the beauty of the Goulburn and Yarra valleys.”
Mr Trembath’s work features in private collections in more than 20 countries and during his career as an artist he has won more than 30 major art awards and more that 100 commendations.
Kevin Hill’s Top Ten Australian Artists Art Show is a showcase of amazing work by some of our country’s best artistic exports.
Last year’s show, the first time it was held in Victoria, was a resounding success attracting more than 1000 people from across the state.
The exhibition is free to the public with most works for sale.
Visitors have the chance to win an artwork by Paul Margocsy valued at $3600.
