PAKENHAM Police have again urged car owners to not leave valuable items in their vehicles while they are unattended.
The call comes after a steady stream of reports to police from people who have had their car broken into and property stolen.
Acting Senior Sergeant Paul Bruders said leaving valuables in clear view made it too much of an attractive option for opportunistic thieves.
“The vehicle only has to be unattended for 10 minutes for someone to break in and steal something,” Sen Sgt Bruders said.
He stressed a simple way of avoiding the costly and inconvenient theft was to place all valuable items in the boot, glove box or console compartment.
“It’s a regular occurrence and is happening everywhere, in the Hills, Pakenham, Officer.”
