BUNYIP residents are still catching their breath after a dramapacked afternoon last Thursday.
The afternoon saw four teenagers allegedly drive a stolen car at high speeds through the town.
Dangerous and erratic driving allegations were among a string of charges that followed the arrest of an 18yearold woman and three boys, one aged 14 and two aged 15.
The four teenagers, all from the Bayswater area, were apprehended in Bunyip by police.
Local residents helped catch two of the youths when they fled from the Ford sedan after it crashed into a ditch near the intersection of Modella Road and Stafford Lane.
Residents and police said it was a miracle nobody had been killed, with the car said to have been travelling at speeds of up to 150 kilometres per hour down Hope Street.
The four allegedly stole the 1997 goldcoloured Ford sedan in Doncaster and drove at high speeds along Princes Freeway before turning off into Bunyip.
Police followed the car but abandoned the pursuit due to safety considerations.
Bunyip police sergeant Ray de Reus said police wanted to hear from witnesses who may have seen the car travelling between Pakenham and Bunyip about 2.30pm last Thursday.
Two of the boys were remanded in custody.
The woman and one of the other boys were bailed to appear in court at a later date.
