THE City of Casey will move to have the missing left turn link from Monash Freeway city bound lanes south on to the new Eastlink freeway installed.
Eastlink first acknowledged that the link was gone from the Monash Eastlink interchange during a speech at a Casey Business Development Group (CBDG) breakfast meeting last year.
Edrington Ward councillor Mick Morland said it was unbelievable that motorists would drive on the Monash Freeway and find no left turn on to Eastlink when it was completed.
“Casey is the biggest city in Victoria and it will have no proper connection to the Eastlink Freeway.
He successfully moved that the council write to the State Government asking that Eastlink provide a left turn from the city bound lanes to the new freeway.
He said this would provide access between the northern parts of Victoria’s most populous municipality and the Frankston area.
Cr Morland said the council was to meet with Eastlink representatives next month.
“This meeting will allow us to put our case for this access,” he said.
