FOUR teams are still in the race for a Nepean League finals’ berth with three rounds to play.
Sorrento, Dromana, Somerville and Rosebud are statistically still alive in the battle for fifth ladder position, however the Buds need to win all three games and rely on the other three teams to lose and that would appear improbable.
Sorrento maintained its hold on the last finals place with an emphatic 45point win over Pearcedale on Saturday.
The Southern Sharks started slowly, but booted nine goals to one in the second quarter to put the game beyond doubt at the long break.
For the Panthers Luke Damon was lively in the key forward post with three goals, but excluding Brendan Fraser, Luke Bozic and Shane Urbans, had little help during the afternoon.
Sorrento was well led by manmountain Scott Cameron who finished the day with five goals.
Top team Frankston downed Somerville with ease and Crib Point upset Dromana in other highlights from weekend matches.
In Peninsula League, Seaford scraped home over a gallant Bonbeach by seven points in the match of the day, while EdithvaleAspendale ended the finals’ hopes of last year’s premiers Mornington, with a 97point domination of their traditional foes, led by Damien Clarke with eight goals.
