NOMINATIONS are open for the City of Casey Citizens of the Year Awards.
Casey has five categories, citizen, young citizen, senior citizen, nonresident and community event of the year.
All eligible nominations are recognised and provide a great way to celebrate an individual’s ongoing contribution to the community and to show appreciation of their efforts in making Casey a great place to live.
The winners will be announced at a special ceremony on Australia Day, 26 January.
This year’s Casey young person of the year Shannon Barnes said the honour has provided her with many amazing experiences.
“The most awesome was being selected to join former motorcycle champion Wayne Gardner in waving off the motorcycle convoy at the MRA Cranbourne GP Run,” she said.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said most people knew someone who had contributed knowledge, time and talents to benefit the community.
“Nominating that person for a Casey Citizens of the Year Award will enable them to be recognised at a wider level where they can share their experiences and inspire others,” he said.
Nominations for individual categories close on Friday, 24 November and nominations for Event of the Year close on Friday, 5 January.
Nomination forms are available from Casey customer service centres or contact 9705 5200.
