DEVON Meadows coach Craig Hunter announced last week that he was stepping down from the position he has held for three seasons.
Hunter was appointed to the job after Eddie Fischer resigned at the start of the 2003 season and has concentrated on building the Panthers using predominantly homegrown players. This season the club recruited several wellperformed players including Adam Jago and Luke and Ben James, but onfield success has been spasmodic and only a major upset this weekend would see the side grab a spot in the top five.
Hunter, 30, told the club that he wanted to continue as a player next season and was prepared to help wherever he could.
Devon Meadows football manager Trevor Clinnick said the club would seek a playing coach for 2006 and would start the search for the right person as soon as their season was over.
