Park set to sparkle

BUNYIP’S newlook Anzac Park is complete, with streetscaping and landscaping adding extra sparkle to the town.
Residents and business owners will celebrate the upgrade today with a formal opening.
Plans for Bunyip’s Anzac Park were developed early last year when the Bunyip Township Committee approached Cardinia Shire Council asking for the park’s makeover.
Bunyip Ward councillor Bill Pearson said several old gum trees were deteriorating, sparking the committee’s request for something to be done to freshen and brighten the area, which was well used by residents and visitors.
“I am really pleased to witness the completion of stage one of the streetscape work in Bunyip, which is Anzac Park. It gives me great pleasure to see people sitting, eating, talking and generally using the park regularly, and believe that it will prove to be a vital asset for the local community,” Cr Pearson said.
Trees with vibrant red autumnal foliage and spring blossom reflecting the Anzac heritage of the park are major features the public can look forward to enjoying.
Work on the new design began in April and ended in June.
