Run feast for Panther pair

TRAVIS Canavan and Doug Loudon, with a partnership of 179, led Devon Meadows to its first win of the 200607 season, defeating Pakenham UpperToomuc by 70 runs on Saturday.
Chasing a challenging 221, several Panther batsmen got a start, but were unable to build any partnerships and had stuttered to 5/102 at tea.
Loudon was dropped on the boundary shortly after the break, the last chance the hardhitting allrounder would give as he and skipper Canavan blasted 110 off the 12 overs after tea to erase the deficit to give Darren O’Brien his first win as club coach.
Loudon was eventually caught for 90, while Canavan scored 89.
Darren Logan made an impressive 20 in his Agrade debut and the Panthers were dismissed for 291.

Devon Meadows suffered a disappointing 55run loss at Gembrook.
Chasing a moderate 143 to win, the Panther batsmen were unable to overcome the tight bowling and slow outfield.
Darren Cooper scored a defiant 24 and Mick Floyd (16), Mark Fairbrother (10) and Lincoln Hepburn (10) reached double figures as the visitors were dismissed for a disappointing 88.
