Say cheese! Stallholders are grinning

FEW enterprises can boast more than 2500 clients turning up on the first day of trading, except major shopping centres.
So full marks to the Rotary Club of Berwick and stallholders who moved their midweek market to the Old Cheese Factory, at Homestead Road, Berwick, for a Saturday sale.
There wasn’t much going for the trial run on a midweek market at Narre Warren in an outofthe way spot.
But it’s a pleasure just to visit the Old Cheese Factory and customers expressed their approval in droves.
This is a wonderful thing for the centre, for the hardworking Rotarians, customers and those with good healthy fresh produce to sell to families at acceptable prices.
Market manager Geoff Rankin said stallholders were blown away by the crowd of 2500 to 3000 people.
He said most ran out of stock and many had to call in more.
My guess is that they will come more heavily laden for the next market to be held at the OCF on Saturday, 24 February.
With the Rotary Club selling its traditional tucker, fine weather and word of mouth about the market, parking could be a real problem.
This market promises a top venue, fantastic atmosphere, excellent produce and fun for the kids. This is great community building.
