Summer cup for Shane

SHANE McKiernan played consistent golf to win the 2005 summer cup at Pakenham Golf Club on Saturday.
In the preliminary finals played in the morning Shane played George Savkov and Mark Klaver played Steve Bloomfield.
Shane and Mark were the winners and played off for the cup in the afternoon with Shane winning 54.
The 2006 Summer Cup will be played in January.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:SATURDAY RESULTS

Last Saturday saw a Stableford overflow event with the winner being Stephen Mann who came in with 42 points.
Rod Cameron was the Agrade winner with 38 points and Neil De Silva was the Bgrade winner also with 38 points.
Nearest the pins went to John Goodchild on the golf shop second hole and Martin O’Hare took out the Pakenham Subway fifth hole.
The Dante’s Woodfired Pizza eighth hole was won by Stuart Scott and Neil De Silva was the winner of the Hungry Jacks 14th hole. Stephen Mann took out the Pakenham Pizza 16th hole.
Martin O’Hare also had a birdie on the fifth hole to gain a ball.
The B.M.R. Autos second shot on the sixth hole went to Bob Collins and the Unique Bathroom Design & Renovation second shot on the 12th saw Scott Milnes the winner.
The B.M.R. Autos longest drive (A grade) saw Gary Westwick the winner with the B grade going to Yari Klimak. The McIntyre Painting C grade longest drive was won by Des Reuben.
Downtheline winners were Colin Crowle 38, Stewart Nicholas 38, Travis Wheeler 37, George Wheeler 37, George Coffey 37, Nik Hock 37, Gary Westwick, Roger Hamill, Mick Boyd, Chris Lim, Peter Dempster all 36, Rob Sandiford 35, Stuart Scott 35, Ian Graham 35, Frank Morris 35, Cameron MacGregor 35, Dave Tyler 34, John Oswald 34, Kevin Salau 34, Mark Bristow 34 and Ron Carroll 34.
Raffle winners were John Gillespie and Paul Hobson.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:COMING EVENTS

This week sees the Pakenham/Garfield Challenge being played at Garfield and the event at Pakenham is Par.
The following week is busy with the annual tournament being played over five days.
The course will be closed for green fee players from Wednesday to Sunday.
Saturday, 19 November is the monthly medal sponsored by Peter Holland Concrete.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:ANNUAL TOURNAMENT

This starts on 9 November and entries close 1 November.
Wednesday is the ladies fourballbestball day with Thursday being Ladies Day.
Handicaps for the ladies are A grade: 0 –20, B grade: 2129, C and D Grade: 3045.
Friday is the men’s fourballbestball day with men’s day being Saturday.
The handicap divisions are A grade: 012, B grade: 1319 and C grade: 2027. (Depending on entries).
Sunday is a mixed Canadian event with a 10.45am assembly for 11.30am shotgun start.
The club has thanked its many sponsors in holding this major event, especially those who have provided prizes for the annual tournament raffle.
These are Pakenham Tyrepower, Mr. Furniture, Pakenham, Hardy’s Retravision and Adam Street Lodges, Tocumwal.

This was a Stableford event with Al Campbell the winner with 40 points from Malcolm Clay 38 on a countback.
Down the lines went to David McArthur 38, John King 37, Michael Otene 36, Brian Doherty 36, Ray Wilson 36, Arthur Sellars 35 and Tasi Taito 35.
Ray Wilson was the winner of the nearest the pin on the eighth and Leo Cester took out the 14th.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:WEDNESDAY RESULTS

This was a fourballbestball Par event with the winners being John Kingman and Paul Timewell with +10 and Vic Mauch/Bob Yates the runnersup with +9.
Down the lines went to Alan Halluer/Bert Burniston +8, Kevin Wraight/Kevin Salau +8, John Gillespie/Patrick Duane +8 and Brian Doherty/Ray Wilson +7.
Nearest the pin on the second went to Peter Eaton and the 14th to Cliff Pain.

Gary Bennett was the winner of the morning competition.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:LADIES

There was great excitement last Thursday when Lyn Avent had a hole in one on the second.
The ladies played in a Stroke event, which included the medal of medallist final for 2005.
Shirley Roberts was the winner with 73 nett which is a great achievement off a very low handicap.
Robyn Jenner won the stroke event with 66 nett. The divisionone winner was Shirley Roberts and the divisionthree winner was Jan Creagh.
The longest drives went to Marg Jackson (division one), Robyn Jenner (division two) and Dawn Van Roy (division three).
Lyn Avent received the prize for nearest the pin on the second hole with her hole in one and Shirley Roberts won nearest the pin on the eighth.
Down the lines went to Marg Blake, Marg Jackson, Jean Hoare and Libby De Hey.
Saturday’s ladies winner was Bianca Walker with 31 on a countback and she also won nearest the pin.
