Trust money to help students

THE P.B. Ronald Memorial Trust is calling applications for the 2006 awards.
This trust was established in 1991 and since then more than 45 people have benefited from the trust’s substantial grants, which have been distributed annually.
Applicants must be residents or former residents of Cardinia Shire.
Those who apply must also be studying the subjects of agriculture, horticulture or local government.
Finance will be provided to assist with educational costs such as fees, books and seminars or short course fees.

Application forms are also available from district Rotarians, Pakenham Racing Club and Cardinia Shire Council.
The closing date for applications is Friday, 9 December 2005.
The P.B. Ronald Memorial Trust was established in 1991 with the support of the Rotary Club of Pakenham, the Shire of Pakenham, Pakenham Racing Club and Pakenham and District Agricultural and Horticultural Society to perpetuate the memory of the late Peter Ronald, who died in 1989 at the age of 67.
Mr Ronald was a councillor of the Shire of Berwick (Shire of Pakenham) for 23 years and for 50 years served as a committeeman of the Pakenham and District Agricultural and Horticultural Society.
For 45 years he was also a committeeman of the Pakenham Racing Club.
He served as president of all three organisations and also the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria.
Mr Ronald always encouraged young people to participate in sport, local agricultural shows and community affairs.
