Two airlifted after crash

TWO women were airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after their cars crashed in Upper Beaconsfield.
The twocar collision, on a bend on Leppitt Road, happened about 7.45am on Monday.
Pakenham Police said both women lived in the local area and were aged between 30 and 40 years old. They were the only people in the cars, which collided headon.
Senior Constable Col Davies of Cardinia Traffic Management Unit said the women’s injuries were serious but not lifethreatening.
Rescue workers had to cut free one of the women, who was trapped in her car.
The police major collision unit attended the crash, along with the CFA, SES and paramedics. Two helicopters transported the injured women to the Alfred Hospital.
The road, which connects Upper Beaconsfield with the Toomuc Valley Road at Pakenham, was closed for almost two hours while emergency service crews cleared the scene.
Police are calling for any witnesses to the collision.
Anyone with information should contact Senior Constable Col Davies at Pakenham police on 5941 1033.
