FOR 60 years the Tynong Country Fire Authority (CFA) has served the local community in times of need and last month the group gathered to celebrate their special anniversary.
The evening paid tribute to the many members that have volunteered over the years at the local CFA and the great work they have done within the area.
A specially designed fire engine was presented to the Tynong CFA on the night after the community and volunteer members raised over $57,000 towards the purchase of the new vehicle.
CEO of the CFA, Neil Bibby attended the function and presented National Medals to Tynong members Captain John Glazzard and Terry Parker, who have provided over 20 years of service to the community.
Mr Glazzard said he would continue to be a CFA volunteer for as long as possible and thanked the families who provide continued support and understanding to their cause.
Mr Parker was thrilled to also receive the honour after 22 years of service and said his time in the CFA had provided many great memories.
“It’s the friendships within the CFA that makes it all worth while, it’s an extension of my own family,” Mr Parker said.
