VCAT to rule on service stations

BIDS to build new petrol stations alongside the western entrance and exit of the Pakenham Bypass will be decided by the state planning umpire.
Developers took their case to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, claiming a decision had not been made soon enough by state and local authorities.
But Cardinia Shire Council has denied it took too long, saying VicRoads had sought further information from developers that was still outstanding.
The VCAT hearing is expected to be held in the next several weeks.
Cardinia development services manager Tracey Parker said council would form a position on the permit application before the matter goes to VCAT.
If approved, the service stations would be built near where the bypass meets the Princes Highway at Beaconsfield.
