BRENTWOOD Park Primary School has been shortlisted in a dairy industry art competition that highlights the economic and health contributions of dairy to Victoria.
Dairy Australia’s ‘decorate a cow’ competition gave the school the chance to decorate a lifesize fibreglass cow with the healthy dairy message that begins with the words ‘dairy good for…?’
The school was one of 20 shortlisted from scores of entries across regional and metropolitan Melbourne.
In addition to their health message, the cows are being used to highlight dairy as Victoria’s largest export earner.
Victoria has 1.3 million dairy cows in Victoria producing two thirds of the nation’s milk with more than $2.1 billion exported to Asia, Europe and the Americas.
The students’ finished art will be seen grazing at prominent Melbourne train stations and this years show from Thursday 21 September to Sunday 1 October.
Although the model cows can’t produce milk, the school that produces the most MOOving work of art will win a $1000 Myer voucher.
The money will be spent on new equipment for their canteen or school.
The winning school will be announced at the Royal Melbourne Show on World School Milk Day, Wednesday 27 September.
Brentwood Park Primary School will be able to keep their cow creations, reminding kids of dairy’s goodness and health benefits.
The cows don’t eat much and are very tame.
