A MAGNIFICENT century-plus by Officer A-grade’s Daniel Savage sparked a win over Catani described as one of the club’s best-ever victories.
Officer came from 6/47 to defeat Catani with Savage making a superb 152 not out.
He hit six sixes and seven fours in his innings and shared partnerships of 137 with Brett Reid 65 and 88 for the eighth wicket with Glen Longmuir 37.
From 6/47 after 28 overs this was an unbelievable effort to win from what Catani thought was a winning position.
Savage’s innings was the highest for an A-grade player at Officer for many years and completed an excellent game with six wickets as well and a great catch.
Former F-grade player Glen Longmuir also provided good support, dispatching former Richmond player and captain Ben Maroney to the fence.
Officer will play Merinda Park this week.
C GRADE
Officer recorded a 77-run over unbeaten Lang Lang.
Peter Quinn led the way with 4/32 and was on hat-trick at one stage.
It was great fielding by Matt Cooper, Brent Pullen and Tony Smith all of whom took blinders in slips.
Paul Simon took 3/30, Steve Leithhead 1/16, Brent Pullen 1/19 and Officer then made 5/65 with Graeme Cooper 22 hitting two big sixes and Brent Pullen made 21.
This was C grade’s first win for the season and will play Catani at home this week.
Daniel Savage, Brett Reid, Glen Longmuir and Peter Quinn won respective man of the match awards.
E GRADE
Officer was bowled out for 52 being well beaten by Merinda Park.
Chris Dorman jointly top scored with nine with Ross Harris also showing good improvement for nine and received support from Richard Adams six.
With players to come back next game, Officer will be looking to bounce back with a win.
F GRADE
Officer defeated Gembrook making 4/149 against 111 all out.
Tim Anderson batted well making his maiden 50 and being not out at the end of the innings.
Andrew Stevenson made 30, Jason Nicholson 29 and Steve Darlow 13.
With the ball, Scott Nicholson took 3/32, Adam Cooke 2/25 off six overs, Jason Nicholson 1/13 and David Coldebella 1/18 with Steve Darlow 1/19 off six overs.
Officer is playing good cricket and is well placed on the ladder coming into the Christmas break.
UNDER 16
Officer played Beaconsfield Eagles and was all out for 68 with only Kerrod Bowman with a well-compiled 29 making double figures.
Stefan Van Boxtel made eight and Jayden Bell four in other contributions.
Beaconsfield finished 0/24 at stumps with Matt Cooper having bowled well without luck for 0/3.
The team will be looking for a good bowling and fielding effort to win this week.
UNDER 14
Officer played Beaconsfield Tigers and was all out for 38 after batting first.
Jarryd Barnes top scored with 13, Tom Marks was five, Xavier Quigley three and Tim Larson three not out.
Beaconsfield was 1/25 at stumps with the successful bowler Richard Manley with 1/0 from just one over.
Xavier Quigley took the catch to pick up the first Beaconsfield wicket.
