DOCTOR Geoffrey Vaughan has dedicated his life to making other’s lives better.
The Upper Beaconsfield man was honoured on Monday for service to scientific research and development.
Dr Vaughan was made an Officer in the general division of the Order of Australia (AO).
The honour recognised his contributions to the development of government policy initiatives, his work with innovative technologybased Australian companies and his role as a mentor and supporter of young scientists.
Dr Vaughan said he felt humbled to receive the honour and said it reflected the work of many people, not just himself.
“With anything like this, there are a lot of others involved, it really is a team effort,” he said.
Dr Vaughan is a fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia and is a former deputy vicechancellor of Monash University.
He received a Centenary Medal in 2001 for his outstanding service to medical and pharmaceutical research.
He was chairman of the Cooperative Research Centres Committee from 1996 until 2005.
