BEACONSFIELD seniors tried hard, but failed to match it with a determined Pakenham, going down by 53 points on Saturday.
The Eagles were without ruckman Chris Kelf and key defender Craig Jackson and the Lions got out of the blocks early with their key forwards Fry and Allen causing headaches.
Haydn Robins was receiving plenty of attention and this freed up Luke McConnell who helped to close the gap by quarter time, but Beaconsfield was 20 points in arrears at the first change.
Again in the second quarter Pakenham made the early running with the Eagles getting back into the game late, but by the long break the lead had blown out to six goals.
Fletcher and Taylor were in good form, but the Eagles were falling down across halfforward. After halftime, the Eagles rallied to win the quarter, but only just as the margin was still 30 points at the last change.
Daniel Mislicki pressed relentlessly up and down the ground, while Luke McConnell continued to be dangerous up forward.
The young Eagles outfit was finally overrun in the last quarter with the Lions having many shots on goal and cruising to a comfortable win.

A depleted Beaconsfield Reserves side took the field against a solid Pakenham outfit and went down by 35 points.
The Lions had the better of the first quarter and looked to be in for a big day.
To their credit, the Eagles fought hard to limit the damage in the second quarter, but were still 13 points adrift at halftime.
In an almost carbon copy of the first half, Pakenham made the most of the third quarter while the Eagles dug deep in the last.

Beaconsfield had a bye this week and took the opportunity to play a practice match against Tooradin who had a bye in the under18 competition.
Beaconsfield Colts won comfortably and thanked Tooradin for providing the opportunity and venue for the game.
