Fostering kids for the future

OZ Child believes every child deserves the chance to shine.
Its Home Based Care program (foster care) aims to provide temporary care for children and young people in a safe and nurturing home during a time when they cannot live with their family.
The care is provided by Oz Child trained, accredited and supported caregivers and may be general foster care or specialised homebased care (for children with challenging behaviours, disabilities and sibling groups).
An Oz Child spokesperson said foster care was the preferred placement option for children and young people under the age of 12 years.
“Children may require care for a few nights up to a few months and occasionally long term,” she said.
“Foster Care aims to encourage, maintain and strengthen the relationship between the child and their family and to reunite them wherever possible.”
Victorian Foster Carers Week is 25 to 31 March.
Those able to offer a safe and secure environment and have an interest in becoming a foster carer, contact the recruitment team at Oz Child’s Dandenong office on 9791 5423.
