Great day for the Irish

PAKENHAM Golf Club went Irish on Saturday with a special fourball Stableford competition.
Teams of four played the round where the two best scores and the worst were recorded on each hole.
The winners coming in with a combined score of 110 and winning on a countback were Scott Phillips, David Horne, Jason McQualter and Matthew Russo.
John Oswald, Hugh Westmorland, Miro Majstorovic and Barry Wood came in with 105 to be next in line and the team of Dean Jones, Alex Green, Angie Peluso and Stuart Scott followed with a total score of 104
Last but not least in the winners circle were Bret Mottrom, Ken Whittaker, Troy Whittaker and Vile Koroknai with 102.
There were some other great rounds played, but unfortunately many of cards did not have all the handicaps recorded and were disqualified.
Down the lines saw Col MacLean, Ross Maclean, Bryan Delaney and Anthony Sheahan 110 followed by Michael Davey, Tom McDermott, Phil Barling and Phil Tunstall with 108.
Rob McCoubrie and Anthony Colvin both had birdies on the fifth hole to gain a ball.
Nearest the pin on the golf shop second hole went to Bob Yates and the Pakenham Subway 5th hole went to Scott Milnes.
Basil Bate was the winner on the Dante’s Woodfired Pizza eighth hole and Scott Phillips played a great shot to take out the Hungry Jack’s 14th. The Pakenham Pizza 16th hole went to Dean Jones.
Scott Milnes was the winner of the B.M.R. Autos second shot on the sixth hole.
Longest drive winners were Dan Cameron (B.M.R. Autos A grade), Michael Hildebrand (B grade) and Michael Burns (McIntyre Painting C grade).
Raffle winners were Neil De Silva, Rod Park, Scott Hooper and Steve Bloomfield.

COMING EVENTS

This week is a Stableford round – Captains v Presidents Day and the following week is Par.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

This will be held on Thursday, 7 September and nominations for the board of management and expressions of interest for the subcommittees are now open.
The forms are available from the Clubhouse.
Nominations for the board close on 24 August.

MONDAY RESULTS

Thirtysix players took part in the Monday Stableford competition.
Ron Miller came in the winner with 37 points from Grant McKay with 36.
Down the lines went to Angie Peluso, Brian Degering, Al Campbell and Bob White all coming in with 35.
Nearest the pin on the eighth hole went to Les Jones and the 14th to Al Campbell.

WEDNESDAY RESULTS

The morning competition was Par and the winner was visitor Peter Marotta with +3 from David Horne with +2 on a countback.
Down the lines went to Brian Degering +2, Glenn Charles +1, followed by those coming in square, i.e. Eric Butcher, Alex Green. Rob Yates, Nik Hock, Bob Sandiford, Bob Morrison, Stuart Hare and George Coffey.
Nearest the pin on the second hole went to Andrew Wraight and the eighth to Stuart Hare.
Ron Seamer was the winner on the 14th and David Horne took out the 16th.

SUNDAY RESULTS

This competition is being run over two weeks and the leaders at the moment are John Goodchild and Stuart Scott.
Nearest the pin on the second hole went to Jeff LeBusque and Glen Easto won the eighth hole. John Goodchild was the winner on the 14th hole.

LADIES

The day started off overcast with a little drizzle, but the weather brightened up during the morning and some good rounds were recorded.
There were 38 that played fourballbestball for the Phil Munn Memorial in conjunction with the first round of the fourballbestball challenge on Thursday, 10 August.
The winners were Marg Andrews and Norma Robertson with 43 points and the runnersup were Maria Warburton and Loretta Stewart with 40 points.
Down the lines went to Fay Barnes/Joyce Garton 39, Libby De Hey/Leanne Andrews 38, Marg Jackson/Ann Bell 37 and Liz Garvey/Jean Hoare 36.
Next week is the second round of the fourballbestball challenge.
The ladies annual general meeting will be held on 24 August.
