Have your say on planning

COMMENTS are sought on a review of Cardinia Shire Council’s municipal strategic statement (MSS), which forms a vital part of the shire’s planning regulations.
The MSS sets out the council’s key land use, planning and development objectives and how they can be achieved.
Councillors and shire officers must take the MSS into account when deciding planning applications.
The State Government requires the MSS review every three years and is the first step towards a full review of the Cardinia Planning Scheme.
The review is not an amendment but an opportunity for Council to recommend any changes or additional strategic work required to improve the performance of the planning scheme.
Planners have prepared a draft discussion paper and a background report with recommendations for changes to the MSS.
The recommendations will be subject to input from the community and key agencies through a consultation process.
The documents are available for public comment until 31 October at Pakenham Library, Cardinia Shire Offices or online at www.cardinia.vic.gov.au
