CASEY mayor Neil Lucas and Baw Baw colleague Ruth McDonald spoke to almost 50 people in Pakenham last week about the challenges and rewards of being a shire councillor.
Cr Lucas and Cr McDonald were guest speakers at the Cardinia Shire Council election information session.
The audience included several people contemplating standing for council. Several current councillors, including mayor Garry Runge, Doug Hamilton, Helen Ward and Graeme Legge were also in attendance.
Cardinia Shire chief executive officer Don Welsh and officials from the Municipal Association of Victoria also spoke at the information session, held at the council offices in Henty Way.
Voters in Cardinia and Casey go to the polls in November.
