YOUNG motorists are in the spotlight after police clocked two teenagers driving at dangerous speeds last week.
An 18yearold Lplater motorcyclist was caught doing 159kmh along the Princes Highway at Bunyip.
The teenager lost his learner’s permit for 12 months and received a $462 fine after he was clocked by police about 6.15 pm last Monday.
The next day, another 18yearold was caught driving at 144km/h along the Nar Nar GoonLongwarry Road at Tynong. He was fined $387 and had his licence suspended for six months.
Acting Sergeant Col Davies of Cardinia Traffic Management Unit said it was “completely unacceptable” for anybody, let alone young motorists only recently behind the wheel, to drive at such excessive speeds.
“We urge all young motorists to watch what they are doing,” he said.
“Nobody should be driving that fast and it is even more dangerous for less experienced motorists to speed.”
