THE Federal Government’s controversial overhaul of workplace laws is nothing to fear, according to McMillan MP Russell Broadbent.
The local MP has added his support to comments by Prime Minister John Howard that the changes will be big but fair.
The government has been under fire with Opposition MPs and workers unions saying changes to industrial relations laws could see some workers lose penalty rates, meal breaks, overtime and other extras.
Mr Broadbent said his message to local workers was that “what they’ve got, they’ll keep”.
Speaking from Canberra on Monday, Mr Broadbent said the new system would be fairer and simpler for employees and employers.
The Federal Government this week launched a multimilliondollar advertising campaign in support of the reforms.
