Officer salutes its captain

AN excellent 65 by Officer’s Agrade captain Ben Tivendale helped his team post a competitive 221 against Pakenham UpperToomuc on Saturday.
He compiled 79 for the opening stand with Clint Williams who made 22 and Steven McIntyre made 11 at numberthree.
Daniel Savage played aggressively with his 47 adding 55 with Brett Reid for the fifth wicket, as Officer looked set for a big score at 4/158.
Brett Reid made 15 and then four wickets fell for 16 runs.
Officer then recovered with a good stand between Glen Longmuir with 23 and Andrew Tucker with a valuable 28.

Also playing Pakenham Upper, dropped catches proved costly for Officer that is chasing 282 this week, with Brent Pullen on eight and Pat Tucker three.
Jason Hester took 3/64 and had catches dropped that proved frustrating. Steven Leithhead also beat the bat and worked up good pace to take 1/43 in a good spell.
He and Mick Adams fielded superbly and Gavin Boon and Andrew Armstrong took good catches. Brent Pullen took 2/35 and Paul Simon 1/45 with one run out.

Officer has already lost on first innings and will be looking to improve its batting this Saturday after being bowled out for 121.
Peter Quinn played an excellent innings of 57 to top score and Tom Bulenok continued his good form to make 41 opening the innings.
With the ball, four bowlers took one wicket each, Peter Quinn 1/15, Ben Adams 1/13, Michael Haughton 1/23 and Richard Adams 1/12.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:F GRADE

Officer had a huge 154run win over Nyora.
Bowling first, Nyora was dismissed in 16 overs for 52. Steve Darlow took 3/6, Jason Nicholson 3/17 and Rob Bones 1/1.
David Coldebella made 44, N. Gibbons 39 and Ben Hale 38 as Officer made 7/206 off 35 overs.
The win puts the team up the ladder and another home game at the Officer numbertwo oval this Saturday.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 16

Officer chased leather all day with Beaconsfield making 286 in reply to Officer’s 70.
Matt Cooper took a good catch in swirling conditions and was later congratulated on his selection in the WGCA under16 team as an opening batsman. Michael Haughton and Mitch Wilson took a wicket each.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 14

Officer made 5/53 chasing Emerald’s 120 with Jarryd Barnes playing well for a notout 31.
Rob Larson made six, Tom Marks and Richard Manley four each and Xavier Quigley was two not out.
The under 14s are at home this week at Officer and are looking for a firstup win.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 12

Officer played Beaconsfield and lost by 28 runs in a close finish.
J. McManus took a great catch in the outfield and Jake Tivendale fielded superbly. S. McManus took 2/9 and Hayden Westwood bowled very well to take two wickets with Beaconsfield making 129 to Officer’s 101.

The players’ auction will be held this Saturday night at the clubrooms where teams of senior and junior players will be auctioned with prizemoney available to those ‘buying’ teams.
