Rockers set to light up festival

THE man behind the band behind Aussie hits Boys Light Up, Errol and Reckless — and who went on to great solo success — will perform free in Pakenham on Saturday.
James Reyne, former lead singer with Australian Crawl, is part of a impressive lineup of entertainment in the summer festival at Lakeside.
Ross Wilson, Daddy Cool legend and writer of Eagle Rock — the song recently voted in the nation’s alltime top five — will also perform during the festival as will Joe Camilleri of Black Sorrows fame.
Staged between Saturday, 14 January and Sunday, 22 January the festival will feature a twilight cinema, family activities and children’s entertainment.
On 14 January, kids will be entertained from midday by the Captain Feathersword Show and Henry the Octopus Show, followed by James Reyne at 3pm.
Dr Decadence will entertain the crowd on 21 January, followed by rocker Joe Camilleri at 2pm and Mondo Rock’s Ross Wilson at 3pm.
Children’s activities will continue until 4pm on both Saturdays, with a jumping castle, animal farm, face painters, a magic show and lots more.
Lakeside Pakenham will be transformed into a drivein cinema on 14 and 21 January.
Festivities will continue on Sunday 15 and 22 January with paddle boats on the lake and musical entertainment. Paint Pot People will also be on hand to entertain kids with a children’s workshop.
Hosted by Delfin Lend Lease, the community festival will end with a grand finale of fireworks from around 8.45pm on Saturday, 21 January.
Lakeside Pakenham project director Ian Heath said: “We had thousands of local residents of all ages join us at our last Summer Festival and Winter Wonderland Festival.
“This year, we expect another 2000 to enjoy the twoweek festival with friends, families and neighbours,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity for everyone in the neighbourhood to come and visit the lakeside community and see for themselves why Lakeside Pakenham is fast becoming one of the most popular in eastern Melbourne.”
