Sam snaps up honour

By Brad Kingsbury
THE CaseyCardinia reserves bestandfairest award was won by Pakenham wingman Sam Paynter, who collected 21 votes to defeat Devon Meadows’ Matt Walters by two votes.
Paynter played five senior games with the Lions this season and was surprised and honoured to win the award.
“I just came here to support the boys,” he said. “I didn’t give myself any chance at all.”
Paynter, 21, and the younger brother of inspirational captain Seb, said that he was aiming to play a full senior season next year and wanted to take his football as high as he could with the Lions.
Keysborough teenager Daniel Morland took out his second consecutive under18 award.
The league goalkicking awards went to Doveton’s Danny Casset in the seniors (91 goals), Matt Trofa from Narre Warren in the reserves (61) and Berwick’s Darren Sheen in the under 18s (63).
