Snip frees finger stuck in scissors

A YOUNG man whose finger became stuck in a pair of scissors was freed in a snip by emergency service crews.
Ambulance and Pakenham Road Rescue Unit dealt with the unusual challenge on Saturday, 10 June.
PRRU spokesman Stephen Monro said rescue crews were called to a house in Henry Street, Pakenham.
“When rescuers arrived, they found a male teenager in good spirits with his index finger stuck in the loop of a pair of stainless steel scissors,” Mr Monro said.
“Ambulance officers applied ice to the youth’s swollen finger, trying to reduce the size of his finger.
“After an attempt to use a ring cutter, which the scissors proved to be too hard for, rescuers used a small pair of bolt cutters to make two cuts.”
Mr Monro said the young man’s finger was swollen but he was otherwise unharmed.
“He was probably more embarrassed than injured,” he said.
