Straight wins for Goon

NAR Nar Goon welcomed old rival Cora Lynn for round 17 and after some great netball Nar Nar Goon came away with wins in all grades, which cemented some finals places.

A GRADE

Nar Nar Goon had a tough game against Cora Lynn, which never gave up while the Goon played one of its best games for the season. With outstanding defence work from Meg Evans, Sam Hodge, Narelle Walker and Mel Van Dieman the team answered Cora Lynn’s pressure, Evans taking 13 rebounds from 15 missed goals. Sharon Blackwood stepped into goals for the first half and showed she was still up to the task. Sam Cox played a fabulous game with plenty of speed and accurate shooting. Masie Noonan, Ebeny Kent and Coby O’Hehir provided drive through the midcourt.

B GRADE

Nar Nar Goon played with great defensive pressure and the Goon goalers capitalised on each oppportunity. The centre court held steady under the pressure and Michelle Collins and Erin Murphy played great games.

C GRADE

The Goon played a great team game. Cassa Fry, Mollie Templeton and Tarryn O’Hehir rotated through the goals and goaled superbly throughout. Scores: Nar Nar Goon 49 d Cora Lynn 27.

17 AND UNDER

The Goon had a great win over Cora Lynn with Erin Murphy and Sarah Van Boxtel in goals taking advantage of every opportunity. Lexie Riley, Sharnie Osbourne and Prue Evans applied excellent pressure down the court and feeding the hungry goalers superbly. Shae Harrop, Leara Keysers and Gwen Jones worked hard throughout. Meaghan Douglas and Hannah Sweeney came up from the under 13s and showed they have great ability.

15 AND UNDER

Sinead Scanlon, Mollie Templeton and Ashlee Dore goaled well, Dore also stepping into defence when required. The defence was strong, making scoring difficult for Cora Lynn. Mirae Payroli made numerous intercepts and helped the team to a great win.

13 AND UNDER

Nar Nar Goon played a strong first quarter and there were some outstanding passages of play. Kate Hughes, Claire Templeton and Hannah Sweeney dominated in goals and were assisted by great passes into the ring by Bridget Scott. Meaghan Douglas and Hannah Rice showed versatility at the defensive end.
