A SUPERB 60 off the stick for a nett 54 1/2 was easily enough for the team of Peter and Steven Bethune and Leon Cook to win the annual Holden Scramble at Drouin Golf Club on Saturday.
Sponsored by Barry Bourke Holden, a full field of 36 teams took part in the threeperson Ambrose event.
Second was Charlie Hardy, Matt Bradshaw and Paul Kay on nett 57 1/3, just edging out the team of Danny Shine, Arthur Barnett and Jim Bransgrove on nett 57 1/2.
Fourth were Grant Coulthard, Anthony Moscato and Noel Cornish on 58 1/2 nett.
The first two teams now have the next round of qualifying at a Melbourne course to be named, with the ultimate prize of a trip to the National final in Queensland.
Barry Bourke and club professional Anthony Bambridge were congratulated for again putting on the event, now one of the most popular on Garfield’s program.
There was also a Stableford overflow held on Saturday and 39 players returned cards, enough for just one grade.
The winner was Matt Lloyd (18) with 40 points and runnerup was Ian Dorsie on 38 followed by Frank Clebney on 36.
Balls went down to 35 and the CCR was 73.
