Young golfers drive for state

TEN young local golfers will tee up in the zonequalifying final of the Victorian Primary Schools Golf Championships to be held on 13 September.
This was after qualifying in the Southern Metropolitan Region qualifying tournament held at Pakenham Golf Club on 16 August.
The championships, under the partnership of the Victorian Primary Schools Sports Association and the Victorian Golf Association, are divided into 10 zones involving 2000 kids and qualifying tournaments are held at 54 venues across the state.
The top 10 ten then play off in the zone qualifying final to be held at Ranfurlie Golf Course on 13 September and this will involve 60 kids.
The top 10 then play off in the state final to be held at Gisborne Golf Club on 17 October.
The Southern Metropolitan Region includes Long Island, Beaconhills, Rosebud, Flinders, Mornington and Pakenham.
Those qualifying after the ninehole event at Pakenham were:
Boys placings
Tyler DeYong, Jordon Payroli, Anthony Monson, Joshua Holmes, Jesse Cribbs, Haydn Westwood Mick Robertson and Jackson ArmisteadWhykes.
Girls placings
Shanice Masset and Claire Templeton.
