BERWICK and District Agricultural and Horticultural Society will receive $10,000 towards the purchase of a new animal nursery.
Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato handed the money to show society representatives on Monday.
Ms Lobato said the funds would go towards the purchase of a custombuilt shed to house the animal nursery exhibit.
“The existing shed has been used for nearly 40 years,” she said.
She said the grant was one of 60 across Victoria to agricultural and pastoral societies, available as part of the annual Agricultural and Pastoral Society Grants Program (APSGP).
“The animal nursery is one of the Berwick Show’s most popular exhibits and the new building is great news to exhibitors and visitors,” Ms Lobato said.
“The building will be designed so that it can also be used to conduct beef cattle workshops and beef cattle handlers camps throughout the year.
“It will also be available to other show societies or groups.
“The Berwick and District Agricultural and Horticultural Society will contribute $13,555 to the cost of new building.
“Coupled with the Bracks Government contribution of $10,000, the society’s plans can now go ahead.”
