Brett fires for medal

PAKENHAM Golf Club’s Brett Hume came in with an excellent nett 67 to win the September monthly medal stroke competition on Saturday.
The Agrade winner was David Lillis with 68 and Peter Korteman was the Cgrade winner with 69. Andrew Villinger was the scratch winner with 75.
Mick Boyd, Gavan Warburton, Paul Edwards and Rob Sandiford sponsored the medal.
Down the lines were won by Stan Gilbert 69, Gavan Warburton 70, Paul Timewell 70, Barrie Seldon 70, Damien Soderlund 71, Chris Underwood 71, John Oswald 72, Clint Walker 72, Ivan Katta 72, Bernie Gramc 73, Rod Cameron 73, Gary Westwick 73, Dean Jones 73, Hugh Westmorland 73, Mick Boyd 74, Neil De Silva 74, Bob Edwards 74 and Rory Sutton 74.
Gary Westwick and Chris Lim both won balls for birdies on the fifth hole.
Nearest the pins saw the golf shop second hole going to Salvador Hadlos and Hugh Westmorland was the winner of the Pakenham Subway fifth hole.
Bryan Clydesdale won the Dante’s Woodfired Pizza eighth hole and M. McKenna took out the Hungry Jack’s 14th. Geoff Porter and his family will enjoy a pizza from Pakenham Pizza for his great shot on the 16th hole.
Sean Constable won the B.M.R. Autos Agrade longest drive with the B grade going to Hugh Westmorland.
Bruce Lott won the McIntyre Painting Cgrade longest drive.
Sean Constable and Jason Malone were the raffle winners.
Next week is Ambrose pairs and the following week a Stableford round.

SUNDAY MIXED EVENT

The Jock Ritchie Day is being held next Sunday 11 September (next Sunday), so it would be a great day to grab a partner and play 18 holes of golf. Hit off is 10.30am for an 11am start.
Afternoon tea will be at 3pm.

CHARITY GOLF DAY

The Make a Wish (Cardinia area) charity golf day will be held on Monday, 10 October at Pakenham Golf Club.
There will be a shotgun start 8am – report to the starter at 7.30am.
Cost: Pakenham Golf Club members $25. A Dutch auction and raffle will also be held.

MONDAY COMPETITION

This was a Stroke competition with Glen Charles the winner with 70 nett.
Angie Peluso and Stuart Hare handed in scores of 71 and Heath Barclay and Neil Brockwell with 73 and 74 respectively were the downtheline winners.
Glenn Charles took out the nearest the pin on the second hole and the 14th went to Heath Barclay.

WEDNESDAY COMPETITION

The weather looked hopeful and 28 golfers took the chance to play 18 holes. A few pulled out after nine holes due to the cold and then wet conditions, but the stalwarts battled on.
There were a few clothes near the heaters drying out at the end of the round, but the satisfied players were Stuart Hare who came in with a creditable 40 points to win the competition from Stan Gilbert with 36.
Rob Yates 35, John Kingman 33 and Michael Davey 32 were the downtheline winners.
Nearest the pin on the eighth hole went to Brian Degering and the 14th to John Kingman.

SUNDAY COMPETITION

The winner was Lincoln Coombes with 38 Stableford points from Munesh Mudaliar with 37 points.

LADIES

The winner of the September monthly medal was Norma Robertson with 74 with the divisionone winner being Libby De Hey with 78 and Jan Creagh won division three with 80.
