Brooker bowlers fight back

GEMBROOK dismissed Merinda Park for 131 in C grade after steady bowling brought a Cobra collapse.

C GRADE

Gembrook played Merinda Park away and started the day in the field, working hard for the first wicket in the 15th over and then playing excellent cricket to have Merinda Park 5/54 at tea.
After tea Gembrook had the Parkers 8/86 but good gritty batting by the ninth-wicket partnership took Merinda Park to 9/129 and Gembrook finally bowled out the Cobras for 131.
Gembrook batted for three overs and lost the important Andrew Hilder for a duck. There remained 70 overs on a small, quick ground to secure a second win for the season.
Best bowlers were Grant Whytcross (4/50) and Rick Atkinson (2/16).

E GRADE

Gembrook played PUT at home was put in to bat.
The best batsman for the Brookers was Clint Oessewyer (24) and he was ably assisted by Tim Gray (19). No other batsmen got going and the Brookers were all out before tea for 75.
Gembrook started well with two quick wickets in the first two overs to have PUT 2/1 and then 3/24.
PUT then steadied and at stumps was 3/66. Michael Webster had 2/17 off 12 overs and Jy Berryman 1/11.

F GRADE

Gembrook played Cranbourne Meadows at Warneet Oval, won the toss and batted well.
After losing two early wickets but the third did not fall until there was 108 on the board, thanks to a wonderful partnership of 98 by Daniel Fry and Kade Brindley.
Gembrook was 8/196 at the end of the innings.
Fry 55 made not out, Jamie Brooksby 42 not out and Brindley 32.
Gembrook then bowled but did not get a wicket until Cranbourne Meadows had 55 on the board, then has the Rebels 3/61.
Wickets then fell consistently until Cranbourne Meadows was all out for 164, another good win to the Brookers by 32 runs.
Kade Brindley took 3/26, Matt Failla 2/21 and Mark Parragia 1/13.

UNDER 12

Gembrook played Nar Nar Goon Black away and the Goon won by 71 runs.
Gembrook made 73, best of the batsmen being Jamie Kennedy with 18 not out. Liam Purdon made eight, Daniel Welsh eight and Levi Conor five.
Conor 2/9 took off four overs, Luke Fitzgerald 2/12 off four overs, Jamie Kennedy 2/12 off four overs and Keith Newling 2/24 off four overs.
