Bunyip’s revenge

BUNYIP Junior Football Club’s fourths avenged the early season defeat by Kooweerup with a 21point win at the weekend.
Coach Mick Lamble has the team peaking at the right time of the season and Bunyip began by shutting down the Kooweerup midfield.
Two players tagged Jack O’Neil, but this allowed the likes of Josh Saik to dominate the aerial battles.
Ash Montgomery was at his best and combining with James Hynes kept the flow into the forward line.
Sago Sutton did the job on the dangerous Jack Carson and Matt Barrand opened Bunyip’s account with a typically clever goal.
If not for some wayward kicking, the game would have been over at halftime.
Aaron Goldsmith and Jed Saik were the targets, feeding off many a forward thrust.
Bunyip now has the finals in its sights.
Scores: Bunyip 6.12.48 d Kooweerup 4.3.27.

FIFTHS

Bunyip took on Kooweerup at Bunyip in the final round of the homeandaway on Saturday.
Kooweerup was fresh from a win against an unbeaten Longwarry the week before.
In the first term Bunyip was smashed in the air by some dominating marking from the Kooweerup talls Maurusic in particular had a blinder.
After conceding two goals, Bunyip regrouped in the second term and played smart football, keeping the ball at ground level and stepping up the intensity at the hardball gets.
Floyd Simpson was a powerhouse at the stoppages and took some telling overhead grabs, Mitch Davies was dynamic, running and creating and setting the tone for the rest of the team while Max Pickering combined with the dangerous Dylan Hudgell to create some forward movement.
In the second term, Kooweerup was restricted to a point.
In the third, Bunyip got a goal through the agency of Davies and the game was in the balance.
Kooweerup ran out 11point winners in a match that could have gone either way.
Scores: Bunyip 3.0.18 lost to Kooweerup 4.5.29.
