CARDINIA Shire Council wants to double its say on the Pakenham Bypass.
The council last week nominated mayor Bill Ronald as its representative on a community consultation committee for the $240 million project and will ask for Cr Doug Hamilton to be appointed as well.
The council has previously had only one representative on the committee but believes that due to the significance of the bypass to the shire, it should have extra representation.
The bypass consultation committee includes officials from VicRoads, Cardinia and the City of Casey, the business sector, the Environmental Protection Authority, Melbourne Water, DSE and the general community.
Its role is to provide advice and input to VicRoads, informing it of community views, perspectives and issues involving the project to divert through traffic away from Pakenham township.
Cr Ronald was nominated to replace the council’s previous delegate, former mayor Garry Runge.
