EMERALD Agrade’s batsmen crumbled to be all out for 70 in 27 overs against Beaconsfield on Saturday.
In the onedayer, played after rain washed out last week’s game, Emerald lost the toss and batted.
The Bombers lost a wicket in the first over and that set the tone for the rest of the day with only two players reaching double figures.
In the field the Bombers bowled well, but could only restrict Beaconsfield to 3/83 after 20 overs.
Quenten Lucas bowled a good spell for 2/11 off eight overs.
B GRADE
Emerald went to Beaconsfield having to bowl seven overs at the start of play to make up for rain interruptions last week. The Bombers bowled well to keep Beaconsfield to 9/224.
Mick Borkowski got a wicket to earn the figures of 4/52 for the match and Clinton Marsh completed a spectacular runout.
The Bombers’ innings got off to a solid start with Borkowski looking good before being dismissed and then the score fell to 3/41.
That brought James Litterbach and Owen Thorne together for a 93run stand before they lost their wickets in quick concession.
Thorne, who opened the batting, made 59, while Litterbach made 50.
The Bombers then collapsed and were bowled out for 159 in the 54th over.
Warwick Marsh could only manage four, while Dan Leversha batted well to make 13 notout.
D GRADE
Emerald played top team Merinda Park at home in a onedayer.
Bowling first, the Bombers got off to a good start with an early wicket to Andrew Rolfs, but then had to wait until the score was on 41 for the next.
Then followed a steady flow of wickets until the innings ended on 8/143 after 40 overs.
For Emerald, Rolfs (3/20) and Derrick Scott (3/25) were the best bowlers.
In reply the Bombers got off to a good start with Jarred Gillespie and Corey Sweeney batting well to bring the score to 1/66 after 21 overs.
Gillespie made 15 while Sweeney made 42.
Another couple of quick wickets were lost and then Jesse Mather (14) and Lee Ligtermoet (34) guided the Bombers to a comfortable victory with three overs to spare.
E GRADE
Emerald returned to Kooweerup to try and defend the 271 made the previous week.
The Bombers got off to a great star with Callum Thoms and Brock Barlow each picking up wickets in their opening overs, but there was then a partnership that brought the score to 110. From there Jim Burke picked up three wickets and Byron Sidwell got a couple as Kooweerup was 9/250.
However Emerald just couldn’t get the final wicket as the last pair put on 50 to see the Bombers lose by one wicket.
UNDER 17
The two Emerald under17 teams played each other and the previous week the Red’s batted and made 6/93 off its 40 overs.
This week the Blacks batted and did well to make 8/193 off 40 overs.
Rob Wynne was the best with the bat as he made 52 retired, being well supported by Zeb Quigley who made 25 and Byron Sidwell and Cailin Parker who both made 21.
UNDER 15 RED
Last week the Red’s batted and made 77 and this week managed to bowl Beaconsfield Eagles out for 168 off 41 overs. For the Red’s, the best of the bowlers were Mitch Copey who finished with 3/9, Jake Rosen 2/19 and Jarred Danders 2/24.
UNDER 15 BLACK
The Blacks played Pakenham UpperToomuc (PUT) and last week made 157 thanks to 30s from Tyler Sidwell and Tom Baldock.
This week they just managed to scrape in for a win as PUT made 130 off its 40 overs.
In an innings where there were five runouts, Tom Baldock ended up with 2/11, while Callum Thoms and Chris Wynne each got a wicket.
