Golf on a plate at Pakenham

IT was a home win for the Pakenham Plate with the team of Paul Hobson, Andrew Villinger, Kevin Wraight and Rob Sandiford the winners with 110 from Garfield with 109.
The popular event was played at Pakenham Golf Club with teams from as far afield as Warburton, Heyfield and Mornington taking part.
Andrew Villinger was the scratch grade winner with 70 and the Agrade winner was T. Fox from Trafalgar with 39 points and the Bgrade winner was James Grant from Garfield with 39 points.
Nearest the pins went to P. Ludlow from ChurchillMonash on the second hole and Bob Dowse (Pakenham) was the winner on the fifth hole.
Tym Davey (Pakenham) won on the eighth hole and Graeme Geisier Senior (Trafalgar) took out the 14th and the 16th went to Ken McIntyre (Pakenham)
Balls down the line went to G. Giesier Senoir 39, T. Van DerKooi 39, I. Wilson 38, G. Geisier Junior 38, B. Staples 38, C. Paterson 37, P. Moon 37 P. Hobson 37, R. Horne 36, J. Coutts 36, J. Kong 35 and P. Howard 35, both on a countback.

SATURDAY RESULTS

The Pakenham members competed in a twoman Par event with a 6.45am shotgun start.
The winners were Mick Conroy and Alan Borch coming in with +13 from Ray Hewitt and Neil Mani with +11.
Down the lines went to Jeff Paterson/Tom McDermott +10, Joseph Brennan/Vilie Koroknai +9, Alex McCrae/John Piggott +8, Don Callen/Brian Ford +7, Vince Del Nigro/Des Rueben +7 and Hayden Bristow/Barry Williams +7.
Nearest the pin on the golf shop second went to Richard Walker with Hayden Bristow taking out the Pakenham Subway fifth hole.
Greg Roberts was the winner of the Dante’s Woodfired Pizza eighth hole and Anthony Colvin won the Hungry Jack’s 14th hole.
The Pakenham Pizza 16th hole went to Vilie Koroknai.

COMING EVENTS

Next week is the March Monthly Medal sponsored by Jaymac Interior Design. Janette McQualter was thanked for sponsoring the event.
The following week sees a Stableford event followed by ‘Hartball’ on Saturday 17th March.
The Pakenham ProAm will be held on Friday, 30 March. Entry forms will be out soon.

JUNIOR PENNANT

The junior pennant team played at Warragul last Sunday in the semifinals, but lost 4/3 in a close contest.
The team was congratulations to all for playing some great rounds to end up on top of its section at the end of the home rounds.
The sportsmanship of the team was also praised.

MONDAY COMPETITION

David McArthur was the winner coming in with 41 Stableford points.
Down the lines went to Malcolm Clay 39, Robert L. Edwards 39, Theo Van Roy 38, Vilie Koroknai 38, Peter Marotta (Lang Lang) 37, Ray Wilson 37, Ian Shennan 36 and Scott Hooper 36.
Visitor R. Watts was the winner of the nearest the pin on the second hole with Derek Arnolda hitting a great shot on the eighth to win that hole.
Bob Laidlaw took out the 14th.

WEDNESDAY COMPETITION

There were 81 players who competed in humid conditions.
Ian Shennan came in with 45 points to win from Jon Roberts and Scott Hopper 42.
Down the lines went to Werner Kerber 41, Ron Seamer 40, Kevin Salau 40, Ray Shalders 40, Rick Neylan 39, Denby Coggan 39, Bert Burniston 39, Peter Eaton, Ronald Horne, Kevin Wraight, Rod Cameron, Harri Capobus, Bob Laidlaw, John King and Tony Vallance all on 38.
Ray Shalders was the winner of the nearest the pin on the fifth hole with Rob Christie taking out the eighth.
Visitor and previous member Rick Neylan took out the 14th hole and the 16th went to Harri Capobus.

WEDNESDAY TWILIGHT COMPETITION

A small field of 89 players took part due to very hot and humid conditions.
The social winner was L. Megyeri and the winner of the meat raffle was Chloe Jones.
Front nine
Ian Shennan was the winner with 25 points from Ron Horne, 23 points.
Down the lines went to Ray Shalders 21, Harri Capobus 21, Peter Eaton 21, Jon Roberts 21, Angie Peluso 21, Sam Maota 20 and Rob Morley 20.
Nearest the pin on the second hole was Tony Vallance and the second shot on the seventh went to Andrew Villinger.
Back nine
The winner was Roger Hamill with 24 points on a countback from Patrick Duane.
Down the lines went to James Grant 23, Brian Bateup 22, Brian Webster 21, Maurice Rossetti 21, Tony Sheehan 20 and Ray Barnes 20 on a countback.
Mark Bell was the winner of the nearest the pin second shot on the 11th and the 14th went to Travis Jack.

SUNDAY COMPETITION

The winner of the Sunday Stableford competition was Joseph Kozina with 42 points from Rod Withington with 39.

LADIES

Members played the fourth and final round of the Summer Cup and the winner was Lyn Murray with 130 nett (38, 34, 28, 30).
The putting was won by Kay Jones with 53 putts (12, 14, 13, 14).
The winner of the front nine on Thursday was Joan Rawson 29 nett and the backnine winner was Lyn Murray with 30 nett.
June McCardel won the front nine putting on a countback with 13 and the back nine was won by Joan Young with 14, also on a countback.
Nearest the pin on the second hole was won by Marg Blake and the 14th went to Sue King.
Downtheline balls were won by:
Front nine: Marg Blake 33 1/2, Jan Creagh 35 1/2, Dini Krytenberg 36 and Judith McDonald 36.
Back nine: Kay Jones 35 1/2, Val Carroll 36 1/2, Marg Turner 37, Toni Owen 37 on a countback.
